Post-hair implant instructions
What medication will I need to take following a Hair Implant?
All patients will be given medication to take for the first few days after your hair implant. This includes:
- Paracetamol — a mild painkiller to manage any post-op pain for 3 days.
- Anti-inflammatory — a tablet to reduce swelling between 3-10 days.
- Augmentine or Hibiotic – Antibiotic for one week.
- Bivatracine – Antibiotic spary for 15 days after the procedure.
- Saline solution – For 3 days you should also spray your hair implant with a saline solution at least 2 times a day, starting the day after your procedure. This keeps the area clean, preventing infection and promoting healing.
It is forbidden to use Finasteride or Minoxidil except after one month from operation.
Sleeping after a hair implant:
- Try to sleep with your head elevated for the first 4-5 nights after your procedure. This can reduce swelling.
- A neck pillow will help make this more comfortable, but you can also use a rolled-up towel to support you while you sleep.
How to clean your hair after a hair implant?
Spray your implanted area with a saline solution—a mixture of water and salt—to keep the area clean. Do this at least 2 times a day.
Washing hair on the 4th day
When you wash your own hair for the first time, use the shampoo (Mild shampoo antiseptic like betadine). Mix it with some warm water, then pour it over your head.
Don’t rub or massage your scalp until at least a week after your procedure to avoid dislodging your biofiber.
Hair dyeing before and after a biofiber hair implant:
- You can dye your natural hair one week before the procedure as usual.
- Dyeing your scalp can irritate the delicate skin and potentially damage the newly implanted hair follicles. It’s best to wait a one month before coloring your hair to allow the scalp to fully heal.
